The Kansas KidsFest was created in 2016 by brothers Nick and Zach Haney. Attracting a crowd of more than 2,000 in the first year, the goal was to create a family festival that would serve as a vehicle to promote a children's organization every year.

The event launched at the Kansas Expocentre inside Exhibition Hall.
